Private Golf Lessons are available with former European PGA Tour Professional Marcello Santi
Marcello, who originally hails from Carimate in northern Italy, turned pro in 1992 and won “three or four” events on the Challenge Tour – Europe’s answer to the Nationwide Tour. He also held a card on the European Tour at times between 1993 and 2004.
He last played competitively on the European PGA Tour in 2004 when he lived in his native Italy. After 2004, he got into the golf-course design business as a project manager. He now promotes golf for the tourism industry in the Cayman Islands.
Recently, a friend convinced Marcello to make the trip to Applebrook Golf Club to attempt the first stage of the 2011 U.S. Open qualifying, and the 41-year-old made it appear as if he never stopped competing, carding a 4-under-par 67 to share medalist honors on a sunny, sparkling day.
